Country Music Star Looking at Lt. Governor's Race Sammy Kershaw, native of Kaplan, Louisiana and country music superstar, is seriously considering a race for Lt. Governor. Kaplan, is a Republican, who originally toyed with the idea of running for Governor, only to set his sights on the Lt. Governor's race. According to political insiders, Kershaw is very serious about the race and is in the process of assembling a political team. Kershaw started in country music in the early 1990's and has several platinum albums. He is married to country music star Lorrie Morgan. Kershaw might have difficulty self-funding the race due to the fact that he filed for bankruptcy in February of this year. The incumbent Lt. Governor, Mitch Landrieu, is considered the favorite in the race.
