Obama Budget First to Include Federal Funds for Louisiana Coastal Restoration

The federal budget released by President Barack Obama on Monday includes $36 million toward coastal restoration.

The budget also contains the elimination of manufacturing tax credits for oil and gas production that opponents say will hit the state hard.

The coastal restoration money marks the first time that any president has put such funds in his budget, said U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.
