The Melancon for Senate Campaign has asked the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee to investigate Senator David Vitter for violating federal law and Senate ethics rules by mailing a fundraising letter designed to look like an official government document, using the Great Seal of the United States. By law, the great seal can only appear on official government documents. Violations are punishable by fines and/or imprisonment for up to six months.
