  • Louisiana Voters Divided Among 217 Political Parties

Louisiana Voters Divided Among 217 Political Parties The Louisiana Secretary of State carefully records the political party voters choose when they register to vote, which is how Louisiana's voter roll came to include 217 political parties, 86 which have only one member.  Included in that list is the Bull Moose Party, with its five members, 12 Jedis, 20  members of the Banana Party, one Monarchist, 16 Whigs, two Cajuns and a list of equally amusing party choices.  Read Gannett's Mike Hasten's hilarious account of those who list their party registration as "other" at the link below.

Secretary of State Jay Dardenne has passed the $1 million mark in fundraising for the Lt. Governor's race, with Democrat Caroline Fayard emerging as the one who could be his strongest challenger.  With $500,000 raised so far and a fundraiser with former President Bill Clinton scheduled for Tuesday in New York, Fayard will be able to mount a serious media campaign in the final weeks.  "I feel very good about where we are across the state," said Dardenne. "My financial base is in Baton Rouge, but we've been very active statewide.  Read how other candidates for the state's #2 spot are doing in the fundraising game at the link below.

The dailykingfish is an opinion blog, like most blogs. He even says 'as I have stated before, is definitely my choice in this race.' So cause this guy thinks we should vote for someone we should? His personal endorsement, big deal.

    Curiuos
I have no idea who Frances is, and I am not overly concerned as I don't see anyone named Frances running for Lt. Gov. Your linked article is exactly where I heard Ms. Fayard speak. And I wouldnt put a whole lot of faith in an individual that writes a blog and cannot spell 'Sachs' right or confuses Tulane with Loyola.
If you are curious what I am referring to please read www.geauxcaroline.com and about her experiences, then read the guy who blogged on the kingfish. Doesn't seem to me he knows very much about what he is typing.

    CHCI:

I don't need to read up on Caroline. You've read her website and have her and Frances' side of the story. In fact, you sound like you could be Frances.

Did you say "wow" because you, too, were confused about why she's using education as part of her platform to run for an office that has nothing to do with education?

Ask Frances what's wrong with owning a BMW. She seems to think it's an image problem or something.

You've read up on her, and you've heard her speak. You tell me what, exactly, is her "real world experience" before her stint at GS?

I look forward to your response.

    Curious-
Have you taken the time to read up on Caroline? Her life and real world experience seems to be anything but 'inexperienced'.
And that's just what I get when I read her website. I actually heard her talk last week. Wow is all I say. This woman is going places, maybe she won't win this election, but she is going to be a force to deal with. She may be the most articulate and intelligent person I've ever seen in politics. Anyway, you should try and catch one of her talks or events. You would be impressed.
As far as your jealously laden posts about her and her family, that's sour grapes. Do you know she owns a BMW or just suggesting? And let me ask what is wrong if she did?

It appears the policial pundits have miscalculated the potential of Caroline Fayard.

She and famly have been raising and providing campaign funds for the Landrieus for many years. Her dad has been appointed to some kind of committee in New Orleans by Mayor Mitch.

The chairman of the committee to elect her is Dale Atkins, clerk of court in New Orleans.

For someone so young and inexperienced (in the real world and in politics), she has been providing campaign funds to national politicians for many years - Bill and Hillary Clinton, Bill Jefferson, Thomas Strickland, Orrin Hatch, Mark Pryor and Ernest Hollings just to name a few.

Lots of the attorneys making the large contributions are attorneys involved in class action lawsuits with her dad, including John Coale and his wife, Greta Van Sustern.

I hope she parks her BMW out of sight and starts driving an American-made car, at least during the campaign.

It's curious her step-mom, Frances Fayard, used her maiden name Frances Gray in making a $5,000 donation.
