A longtime aide to Senator David Vitter who pleaded guilty to a knife-weilding incident with his former girlfriend in which he threatened to kill her and slashed her face, has resigned. Brent Furer has had numerous brushes with the law, including an open warrant in Baton Rouge for DWI, and an incident of road rage in which he struck a motorcyle rider. Des[ite his violent past, Vitter had assigned Furer to oversee women's issues.
