The Louisiana National Guard's 256th Infantry Brigade is wrapping up training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi before deploying to Iraq in early March for a year of active duty. The unit consists of 3,000 soldiers, including three Baton Rouge Police officers, who will have responsibilities ranging from providing security for convoys traveling at night to conducting background checks to search for Taliban.
