  • Louisiana Voters Divided Among 217 Political Parties

Louisiana Voters Divided Among 217 Political Parties The Louisiana Secretary of State carefully records the political party voters choose when they register to vote, which is how Louisiana's voter roll came to include 217 political parties, 86 which have only one member.  Included in that list is the Bull Moose Party, with its five members, 12 Jedis, 20  members of the Banana Party, one Monarchist, 16 Whigs, two Cajuns and a list of equally amusing party choices.  Read Gannett's Mike Hasten's hilarious account of those who list their party registration as "other" at the link below.

A lawsuit filed in New Orleans civil court accuses prominent local businessman David Voelker of siphoning money from his business partner into companies and accounts controlled by him.

Voelker, a politically active businessman who serves as chairman of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, said the lawsuit contains scurrilous accusations that don't reflect his 20-year partnership with Juanita Frantzen. The lawsuit, filed Monday, comes on the heels of months of negotiations about how to fairly divvy up their company, Frantzen-Voelker-Conway Investments LLC, he said.

Having known David and his family for many years, I cannot imagine that he could possibly be involved in ANYTHING illegal. I definitely say: innocent until proven guilty without a shadow of a doubt.

Based on the fact that there is an actual lawsuit that was filed means there is some kind of tangible proof, so this does not seem like "scurrilous accusations". Just because David Voelker is politically active does not mean anything as some of the biggest crooks and largest frauds are perpetuated by people in office. The other issue is that a Southern raised male would take advantage of a female, this is as low as a person can get.
